Camera: Sony A6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 16-50mm Power Zoom Lens
Recently I retired my Nikon SLR’s for this lightweight beast! This mirrorless wonder has 24 MP sensor, 100-25600 ISO, 11 FPS, and it weighs less than a pound. The stock camera lens covers most of my needs.
Buy the camera and lens now on Amazon for under $700: Sony Alpha a6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 16-50mm Power Zoom Lens
Camera Bad: Peak Design Everyday Messenger Bag 13 inch
I bought this bag via a Kickstarter campaign after playing with it during a Trey Ratcliff photo walk. I love this bag! I can fit multiple lenses, my GoPro, a point and shoot, chargers, and my iPad. It also has easy top access so I can quickly get to lenses, filters, and other fun stuff.
It is on the pricy side at around $200 on Amazon. But well worth it in the long run. Check it out here: Peak Design Everyday Messenger Bag 13 inch – Charcoal BS-13-BL-1
Software:
HDR: I recently dropped the Photomatix, Photoshop, Lightroom to use one software to process my HDR photos. That software is Aurora HDR for Mac. This is some powerful software spearheaded by the one and only, Trey Ratcliff. Super affordable and pretty easy to use. I recommend checking it out on Trey’s website. If you decide to purchase, I strongly recommend the Trey Ratcliff bundle with he tutorial: http://www.stuckincustoms.com/aurora-hdr-software-for-mac/
If you’re on a PC and want to learn how to create HDR photos, I recommend downloading Trey Ratcliff’s HDR tutorial. He’ll show you everything you need to know about creating HDR photography: https://store.stuckincustoms.com/complete-hdr-tutorial
Texturing: I love to add multiple textures to my photos after I’ve finished the HDR processing. I feel it adds more flavor, character, and it gives me a chance to really add my signature to each photo I create. For this technique I use Photoshop exclusively. If you’re interested in learning this technique, I recommend purchasing Trey Ratcliff’s texture tutorial. You’ll also get a ton of texture to use on your photos: https://store.stuckincustoms.com/textures-tutorial-bonus
Plotagraph: I’ve just found out about this new photo processing called a Plotagraph. This software will create a moving image out of any JPEG. It’s pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it and soooo cool! Pretty pricy piece of software running $299 a year. Totally worth it to create engaging content for your websites. Lot’s of potential. Check it out here: https://www.plotagraphpro.com/
How Do I (fill in the blank)?
If you haven’t noticed, I’m a huge fan of Trey Ratcliff. Most of my processing technique was learned by watching his tutorials. Additionally, he’s created some great series and instructional videos on the art of photography. I strongly recommend checking out his online store: https://store.stuckincustoms.com/
